From the beginning in 1932, Helle knives have been crafted and sold based on the same set of principles: honesty, hard work, and quality. From these principles, the Helle philosophy has evolved, reflecting the past, place, people, and production that define the Helle brand.

Each Helle knife is unique, though they all share the same underlying philosophy. The Sigmund anniversary knife is a special edition that tells a story, designed by two generations of Helle men. The blade was designed by Sigmund Helle in the 1930s, while the handle was created by his son Torodd in 2012, representing 80 years of tradition.

The Sigmund knife is a classic all-purpose knife with a beautiful handle made from stacked pieces of wood and leather spacers, giving it personality. Handmade in Holemdal, Norway since 1932, the knife has a handle length of 4.2" (107mm), a blade length of 4.2" (94mm), and a blade thickness of .11" (3.2mm), along with a genuine leather sheath designed by Helle in 2012.

Helle embraces the past while looking to the future, with many of their knives based on traditional designs. The remote location and small community of Holmedal are not limitations, but sources of strength and identity. Each Helle knife carries a piece of this heritage with it.

Family tradition is deeply rooted in the company, with second- and third-generation factory workers. This sense of trust and familiarity is reflected in the products. No two Helle knives are exactly the same, as each receives individual treatment by human hands, enhancing the quality and individuality.

Helle's outstanding craftsmanship is evident in the up to 45 manual operations each knife undergoes before passing quality control. The carefully selected materials, including the hard and beautifully structured wood of curly grained birch, along with leather and stag horn, contribute to the knives' character.

The sheaths are made of specially tanned leather, treated with saddle grease for increased luster and durability. The unique, functional shape of the Norwegian sheath is the result of long-time development and enhances the quality of the knife.

The triple laminated stainless steel blade is the biggest difference in Helle knives. The core is made of high-alloy steel, giving it a lasting, razor-sharp edge, while the outer layers of tough stainless steel protect against rust and breakage. This combination of materials and craftsmanship results in knives that are built to last.
